Opportunity Value
Phase 1: US$ 8–12 Million; Future phases: US$ 250 Million
Project Overview
The project upgrades the existing 20 km, 69 kV transmission line linking the Clark-Dolores substation and New Clark City, and the 230 kV line connecting the Dolores and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Concepcion substations, by replacing obsolete traditional conductors with advanced composite core conductors (Phase 1). Phase 2 begins the systematic reconductoring of the 230 kV transmission lines, starting with the Dolores-to-Concepcion line.
The Proponent
CTC Global is leading the development of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 upgrade programs and will coordinate with the relevant transmission and distribution utilities.
Highlights
Reconductoring with advanced composite core conductors are faster and more cost-efficient compared to new greenfield transmission lines, reducing costs and improving efficiency. Implementation time is estimated at 3 to 4 months at 25% of the cost, vs. 3 to 5 years for constructing new 69 kV and 230 kV lines. Investment and supply partners will benefit from creditworthy utility counterparties.
The Opportunity
The proponent is seeking investment support to finance Phase 1 to execute rapid reconductoring of distribution lines within Clark. Proof of concept provides a basis to address transmission networks in Phase 2.
